Mini Album Share - Mein Reisen

When I was 15, my mom took me on a trip to Germany to visit the Exchange family she stayed with when she was in high school.  She was there in late 50s, before the Wall was completed.  Just a few short years after the armistice.  The cold war was still very much a reality and her father had served in the South Pacific.  I can't imagine what it was like as parents to let your girl go that far away after all of that.  But they had faith, and trusted God.  And I am so very glad they did.  It gave all of us, including them, the chance to meet a couple families of people who touched our hearts.

They were also a host family, and they received Peter, whom they still visit today.  But I digress, this is about our trip together, her chance to show me some of the places she saw, things she did, people she loved.  I am not sure I appreciated it then, and not sure I still do fully now, but it was a life-changing event for me, even if I didn't realize it at the time.

Lots of product, lots of memorabilia.  I'll do my best to list here:

Layout Share - Saucer-rific!

This was a fun little layout I did to tell the story of the Super Saucer we received as a gift when 012 was born.  That's him in the right two pictures.  Then the other guy came along & it was fun again, but he was almost too big to fit in it.  The younger one didn't know what to do with all the toys, it took him a while to warm up to it all.

News from the Studio

Oh my has it really been since December!  Wow, well, lots going on around here.  I've been busy, busy, busy actually scrapping my stories, and creating new prettys to share with everyone.  I FINALLY got my Valentine's Day collectionZ posted to the ETSY shop yesterday, I was so thrilled!  I've also been busy uploading photos to have printed out at my local Walgreen's.  I've always loved them, however with the last batch I noticed they were using thinner paper & it makes for flimsy prints.  I've got a HP Photosmart, but I find it doesn't do the color correctly based on what I see on my screen and that is very disappointing!

I have been working on my LOM and have decided I need to start creating title pages, so I've kitted up a bunch for 012's album, and then I'll do 010 before I do mine.  It just feels so good to get these done!  And use up some supplies!  I shudder when I think about how much I have spent over the years!

And just because I can't leave you without a little goodie...
A compilation of several birthdays for my nephew.  Whom I love very much!

LO Share - What I want to be when I grow up

I had always dreamed of being a pilot and then an astronaut.  Been fastinated with it for years!  Still am, really.  I never made it, but I still dream.  And now, I'm content to just fly (in) the Cessna or T-34.

LO Share Halloween

Fun little LO I did for our first Halloween/Trick or Treat as a family of 4.  Loved that our neighbor took a picture of us all together to send to me. Loved that 004 was wearing the same costume that my mom made for my nephew years ago.  I've lost track of it though, really hoping K has it.  Love the look on his face!

LO Share R Family

This was a hard LO to do, it was the last family picture we did together.  It is so hard to believe the boys were so little!  It's hard not to think what life would have been like if we had stayed together.  I so wish I could go back in time and enjoy them at this age so much more than what I did.  Good lesson to learn for right now.

News from the Studio

Good morning all!  It seems like it takes longer for it to look like morning time out there! I've been so very busy in the studio these past few weeks! I just put up yesterday my largest CollectionZ yet, you can check it out here: Fabulous Fall Traditional and Fabulous Fall Digital.

I also want to give a shout - out to Layout a Day.  They are a super - great team to work with & I love what they are doing over there, go check them out & get inspired!

Well, I'm off to get the little hooligans off to school but I want to say stay tuned for more new stuff!  I'm going to do a couple of personal pages so I get my own stories told, and then it will be back to playing!

Until next time, happy scrapping!

Card Share - Love

This is just a really simple, uber-cute card to make.  It is sized to fit in a CD envelope, with the hearts showing through the window, so about 4.5" square.  Just a couple of cardstock & KI Memories paper scraps left lying about, some paint for the chipboard hearts, and BAM! it's done. Brighten up any loved one's day with it - they'll hug you for it!

Mini Album Share - Ben@1

For my older son, I did a little mini album for one of his birthdays awhile back. It is very small, I think 4x5 and just has some fun pictures in it.  I had some scraps of Li'l Davis Paper that I used for it that was just too cute!

First, I laid out all the pages & got the photos trimmed down to size.  I used chip in between each of the pages to give it sturdiness.

I made the CoasterZ that has his name in it, and I just hand-drew the @ sign.  1 is Chatterbox.  The ribbon matched beautifully & was just some grosgrain that I had picked up at Hobby Lobby.  I loved the little feet paper clips I found at Staples!  In the back you can see a sample of products I had laid out to use.  Typically what I will do is go find the category of stuff that I'm making (school, Christmas, etc.) and then just up-end the bucket and start digging until I find what matches & what I like.

You can see it coming together over the next few pictures...

I think total it took me a couple hours (maybe a couple more!) to put it together.  He loves it, and I love looking at it!

Mini Album Share - Flex Term

When I was a freshman in college I went we took a show on tour for our Flex Term class.  We delayed ours to August, however, instead of doing it during the traditional May timeframe.
The book I used was an old Microsoft marketing pamphlet.  I liked the spiral bind of it.  The pages are glossy, so getting glue to adhere was a bit of an issue.  I would recommend sanding or some other type of scuffing to get some tooth first.

This is what it looked like...

I started by laying out the pages and making sure I had enough of everything.  All the pictures I took with my old 110 camera.  This was 25 years ago now (1988).

Here is the cover, Junkitz papers, 7 Gypsies tape many different letters.

The left side is a pocket to hold my paraphanalia from the trip.

We got to go to Tony Paco's when we were in Cleveland.  Jamie Farr used to talk about that place on MASH all the time!

Some of the pages I cut in half just to make it fun.

On the right is a write-up one of the churches did of our show.
This is just some journaling for me.  My printer will print out ruled paper, which I love!
The back cover.  It was such a fun trip, I am so glad i finally have the memories captured and written down in a book!
